The second season begins with a group of youths destroying a dam, leading to the death of one of them, Thiago, who is beaten to death by law enforcement. Tadeo Vazquez returns to Argentina with Jonathan, and they are approached by the other teenagers for help. Tadeo enlists the assistance of a teacher, Pedro, and a doctor, Yael, but they are unable to save Thiago. Outraged by the government’s treatment of him and his friend, Tadeo openly condemns the officials’ actions, which leads to a recording of his speech being uploaded to the internet, quickly spreading across the country.

As a result of Emilio’s theocratic rule and rising cost of living, violent protests erupt in every city. Julio is a professor, and Ana has not introduced her daughter, Carola, to Emilio, indicating that they want nothing to do with him. Emilio demands a new cabinet after the Church of the Kingdom of Light is bombed, but Rubén assures him that he has a better solution. Rubén’s plan is to create a terrifying monster to scare the public, which, after being defeated, will raise Emilio’s popularity. However, Rubén plays Emilio the Tadeo internet sensation, lying that Tadeo is encouraging violence against Emilio.

Rubén’s Fate

Rubén’s mental state continues to deteriorate throughout the season. He breaks into his therapist’s house, setting up a hidden camera to monitor her at all times. A day before the plot is to be executed, he breaks into her home, blaming her for his declining health. He sexually assaults her and eventually kills her by choking her. After ensuring that there is no evidence left behind, he leads his forces to the Pretorianos’ Bella Vista headquarters, where they have already defeated the gang.

As Rubén’s forces have blocked the entrance, Emilio cannot deliver his address to Congress. If Rubén succeeds in making the vice president the president, Emilio will be completely helpless. As Rubén’s preparations progress, he begins to hallucinate again, this time with the psychologist spectating nearby. He is admitted to a hospital, likely a psychiatric ward, and Lautaro, his second-in-command, gives an update to a phone caller who praises Rubén for being an excellent soldier. Rubén is haunted by the ghost of Remigio, a former colleague.

Tadeo’s Fate

Before leaving for Washington, D.C., to serve in Congress, Tadeo bids farewell to his friends and Yael, whom he has recently started seeing. Just before leaving, he is spotted in a dead greenhouse. When he touches a plant, it miraculously blooms.

Julio and Alejandra’s plan includes playing live testimony from victims, but as the live broadcast is being made, Daniel’s men enter the room and destroy the equipment, cutting the broadcast short. Tadeo then comes forward, revealing his true identity and detailing how Emilio sexually abused him. Emilio’s panic upon hearing Tadeo’s voice prompts Daniel to take care of business personally. Daniel shoots Tadeo dead just as he is calling for unity and the pursuit of justice.
